not checked out to you. Edits are not allowed on this file

I know this has been addressed many times but all of the other threads didn't seem to provide a solution to our situation. Here are those threads as reference:

Our situation is that we're working in a Vault environment, and we have updated some of the Content Center Family Tables. In order to update the parts already in Vault with these changes, we use the Manage->Content Center->Refresh function. Which of course requires an admin to check-out the files. This normally works fine, except we're having an issue with only a few select parts that don't seem to really get the update.

The particular change we're trying to make is we've added an Appearance column to the family table that will dictate what appearance that family member needs to be. See screenshot below:

On this particular one, the appearance does NOT change after the Refresh operation. You can see below, that the part still has the Steel-Polished Appearance applied.

However, if you OPEN the part, it DOES have the appearance applied, however there's an asterick by the appearance:

So I go back to the assembly, thinking perhaps there's an appearance override that I need to clear. When attempting to do that though, I get the message that there are none:

I go back to the part and verify that I have the part checked out, which I do:

Checking it back in does nothing, it still shows up with the old Appearance. If I check out the CC part again, and attempt to change the Appearance, that's when I get the error message, this of course even though I have it checked out.

Not really sure what's going on here. Here is our Project file settings. Does anyone see anything here that may be causing this?

There are two separate issues here.

On the color, What happens if you place the same component in a new assembly. What color is it? What happens in the assembly if you do a Replace and select the same component from CC? Is this just one member of the whole family table or is it the whole table?

On the Can’t Modify warning this is typical when you try to edit a CC component in the default directory without changing the project file. The project file needs to be one that has the workspace set to the CC directory. That one I wouldn’t worry about at this time.

Placed in NEW assemlby, it comes in as the correct color (green)

Replace component in the original assemlby, with same size or even different size, it comes in with the old color (grey). Deleting the components and re-inserting them has the same result

Does this happen with all existing file or just the one mentioned. If it’s one it could be file related. If not is it possible there is a second Content Center file location. Try opening the component in question and doing a save as and check the location to the one in your Application Options or Project file for Content Center Files.

Another option would be to run the assembly file through Task Scheduler using a Migration or Design Update task and add the following options to the default, Total Rebuild & Compact Model History. Once complete open the log file create and scroll to the bottom to see if there were any errors.

Sorry for the delayed response. Wanted to follow up and let you know I haven't had a chance to try the suggestions; been extremely busy with other admin items. I'll try to see if I can get to these things in the next few weeks and report back the results.
