iProps Wizard V2.0?

iProps Wizard V2.0?

I am taking suggestion for improvements to the iPropsWizard.

Among those I have gotten so far that I think I can pull off are:

Allow the "Keep Part Color" to be defaulted to on or off (via the setup
screen)

Have a calendar control pull down on those fields that are dates

Allow some of the text fields to be list boxes that are predefined by the
setup screen

Password protect the setup screen (to keep those pesky users out of the
setup)

Anything else? I'm just starting to look at the new version. Not sure when
I will actually get around to it all.

Probably not possible, but, could you make the comments property act the
same as it does in the IV properties GUI? (multi-line)

What's about a switch in the registry
to enable/disable the setup command
in the pulldown menu?

Please, don't forget a list box for the
design status.

If the switch was in the registry you'd have to manually edit the registry
to turn it back on. 😞

Kind of admin and user setup I thought.
You could use *.reg files there for.
BTW, what is a good way to copy the
settings from one user/pc to another?
Also using *.reg files here.

Use the export button on the setup screen. It will save out a reg file.
Then take this to another PC, double click and it will have the same
settings as the first. (iPropWiz has to be installed of course)

This is probably for version 8 but...
(I haven't used V1.0, but from the description on your web site it appears
to work on one part at a time.)

How about the ability to set property values of multiple parts at the same
time, say 10 parts that have the same material or vendor? I like to enter
BOM info such description, vendor, and material as part properties- -but it
takes gobs of clicking and typing to accomplish it. DA shows you this info
in a nice table format, but you have to right click every single part(if I
remember right.) I don't do much DA now that I'm using semi-isolated
project files.

Is there some other way I haven't discovered to do this?

the Excel properties program on my site allows you to use Excel to copy
paste into multiple files and then save it.

That's what I meant ...
You use export function on the "admin" PC but
on an "user" PC you don't need the setup screen,
you just use the exported *.reg file with the settings.
To make the "user" PC an "admin" PC you can
use another *.reg file as a "hidden" switch.

Yeah, about that... what a PITA that was.

I hate to say it but from now on, I think translation to foreign languages
are going to be a paid feature. While you all were nice enough to help
translate the help files it took a LOT more code than I expected to handle
this feature.

We'll see...

Kent,  It looks like this approach has a lot
of potential. Thanks for making it available!

It was able to change about five parts in the assy
then I got the error in the attached JPG. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Not sure if I have seen that error before or not. Are any of the files Library or is it a
Semi Isolated project?

It is semi-isolated. I checked the assy(tree) out and then pointed the
spreadsheet to my workspace. It works fine then. Thanks for the tip! This
will make BOMs much, much easier.
