iPart wish - designate workplanes to go thru to child

I know this has already been lamented by others about iParts, but the only
one that keeps it's workplanes when "being born" is the default size. If the
iPart author intentioned a workplane to assist in the assembly constraining
of the child, this ability currently does not exist. The user of the iPart
must then construct the constraining workplane in each child as he births
them.

I understand an iMate is suggested as a workaround but I can't seem to get
this to work off an added workplane in the factory - the only way I've found
to properly constrain the part. Am I doing somthing wrong? It's that pesky
drill bushing again. I'll post it again in CF. It's getting close but this
issue reared it's ugly head when I went go and use the iPart.

Thanks Many,
Jack

Check CF under your post.

You have to add the imate properties to the ipart table. It's the third of
fourth tab on the table. When I insert it after making these changes I see
the workplane and iMate glyph.

Thanks very much Sean,

Now it comes in and the workplane is visible. I can turn on the iMate glyph
visibility and perform the mate constraint.
Do you know how to turn the workplane visibility off? It's like some
integral component of the ipart child now and won't go away. Not a big issue
I guess. But there's no item in the browser to right-click on. See
screensnap in CF. I even went back in and made sure the workplane visibility
was turned off in the factory, and retried the ipart in my fixture. Is this
controlled in the table as well?

Thanks Many,
Jack

If you children are not being saved to a library path you can open the child
created and RMB on the plane and turn it off. If they are in a library path
you will have to change projects or move them out of the path, edit them,
then move them back...

the other (and much easier way) is View > Object Visibility > User Work
Planes. But it turns all planes in the assy off...

One last little thing. I posted a snap in CF. Why does my child show 2
embedded spreadsheets - Embedding1 and Embedding2? Embedding1 looks like the
spreadsheet that I started with and Embedding2 is the one with all the
length permutations after I added LENGTH as my #2 key. I can't seem to blow
the old one away. The funny thing is they aren't exposed in the parent for
me to delete either. Is this a bug?

Thanks Many (again),
Jack

Yes - see the screensnap "cant turn workplanes off" in CF; I use
Millenium/Gradient.

That's where I saw the yellow workplanes (CF), I'd seen them in other files
and wondered what color scheme produced them. Millennium/Gradient seems to
be the answer. Thanks! (I could have checked it out myself if I wasn't so
gaul-darn-lazy!)

Larry I take that back - my "Orgin" workplanes (XZ, etc) are blue, and my
user workplanes are yellow. Why?

Right ... I think the origin planes are all blue no matter what color scheme
you pick. I was asking about the user workplanes.

There is an extra (actually just one) embedded Spreadsheet in the original
factory. Delete it and then you'll only have on in each child. There
