I have a cast aluminum part I need to calculate the surface area for our plating process. I have done a simple area, its not right (.015ft^2). I have derived it as a surface but can't get a volume calculation. Any ideas?

You have imported a part.
First thing I would do is sketch a known length (and units) line and verify that your import is the correct size.
Have you done that?
If you roll up the EOP and zip the file - is it still too large to attach here?
If so, send it to jmather_at_pct_dot_edu

I looked at your second screenshot, the iprops one.
A cube of aluminum that weighs 0.008 lbs is 0.438 inches on a side. See my screenshot.
Is that close to the size of your part?

The part is @ 13in X 4in X 3in total. The surface area of just one face on the where the halves bolt together is 3.902 IN^2
The last number you show is what I get for the pins, not for the caliper body.

Sorry I was playing around with a combine when I snipped that shot. Here's one where all I did is open your file, click rebuild all, open iProperties and click update:
You can select what bodies are considered in the first drop down. "The Part" is everything in the ipt file.
