graphicproblem on notebook

Having problemd with graphic display on notebook

Buying a new notebook brings problems in using IV 6 SP2

When dimensioning a scetch, the dimensioning text is only displayed in following
registry editing
In the display properties i have to change the blank
stroke font list to the same text style of the application font, the entry of the
default font must be empty.

The characters are now shown, but the dimension line goes across the text.

Following the text when analyzing the hardware in the IV options:

Der Grafiktreiber wurde nicht zertifiziert.
Die Grafiktreiber-ID ist ATI Technologies Inc.\Radeon 9000 DDR x86/MMX/3DNow!/SSE\1.3.3413 WinXP Release.
Grafiktreiberdatei ati2dvag.dll ist Version 6.13.10.6200.
Es wird die vollständige Optimierung verwendet. (empfohlene Einstellung)
SwapType = 2
Workarounds = 0x1a0c0240
Workarounds2 = 0x00000040
Die Anzeige verwendet 32-Bit-Farbe

HW Library Version = WinXP - $Revision: #153 $
HW Library Date = $DateTime: 2003/02/07 17:04:26 $

Optimization Level = 2
Options = 0
Warning Options = 8

Settings for optimized and conservative:
SwapType: 2, 3
Workarounds: 0x1a0c0240, 0x1a0c0240
Workarounds2: 0x00000040, 0x00000040
Text Options: 0x00000000, 0x00000000
OpenGL Version: 13, 13
Recommended Optimization Level: 2
Texture Font Precision: 32
Stroke Font Precision: 0,001000
Driver Rating: 0

Using OpenGL 1.1
swap behavior: swapCopy(1 or 2)
OpenGL errors: None.

Windows XP Prof SP1, graphic display see above having 64 MB RAM, system with 512 MB RAM

Also there is a display problem when using a bitmap as background for scetchimg, not all the colours are
displayed. Opening the graphic in paintshopPro it is looking well.

Sorry for the bad english, i'm from germany.

Your problem is most likely with the ATI Radeon video card. IV and ATI don't work together very well, especially the Radeons below the 9700 model.

Du sollst die ATI karte vergessen. Diese Karte
gibts nur probleme.

Unfortunately the are so may problems with the ATI
cards. On my HP laptop I am trying some drivers from Guru3d.com. I am still
investigating.

I am investing in a new Dell M50 with the new
Nvidia Go as soon as possible.

Yea, it does get old but at least it's short, sweet, and nails the problem. B-)

Please keep us posted about the Dell M50, I'm thinking of getting one myself for Inventor use. Anyone else have any backfeed on the M50 and Inventor?

I purchased a Dell M50 about 8 months ago (with 1 Gig of ram) and it did such a good job with Inventor, I pulled a couple of my engineers off their desktops and got them M50's as well. It handles multiple assemblies, idw's, etc. open at once (no slow screen refresh like on the ATI's and GeForce's) and chugs along as good as most desktops.

I've been using a Dell M50, nVida Quadro 4 500 GoGl 64 Mb, 1.8 GHz, 1 Gb Ram with XP Pro since May of last year. IV6 SP2, Excel, Word, Quick Books and Internet run just fine.
For what it is worth, I highly recommend this machine.

Hi

I have two Gericom notebook. My first notebook has a simple ATI Mobility
card and the second has an ATI Radeon Mobility 9000. I am very content with
both system, they are stable as my desktop computer with NVIDIA Card. I had
similar experience as you with my first notebook, but with WIN ME. Now I use
Catalyst 3.1 driver with WIN XP SP1 (HUN). INVENTOR doesn't recognize the
driver and uses the MS OpenGL. In case of small assys it is enough. If I
make an override and use full optimization then it is faster than my deskop
computer with Geforce 3 (softquadro) card. Unfortunately in this case I have
to restart IV after some work hour because it is not stable. This
instability is not serious because you can see precursories before the power
exit and you have time to save your work. Try download an other driver...
