failed to save factory member

When I try to add a particular iPart to a new assembly, IV won't let me and
gives the error 'Failed to save factory part'. What does this mean?

The very same thing just happened to me. In fact, I was logging on to post the same question. Could this be some kind of conspiriacy? Is Inventor haunted? Are we doomed? Does anyone know what this message means?

Could something be wrong with that member in the table? Have you tried setting it to that
member in the Parent file?

If you want, post it to customer files, and I am sure someone will be able to figure out
what might be wrong.

It happened with any version set to default. I ended up removing the iPart
data and then making it an iPart again, just carrying over less information.
Now it works.

I'm not sure what the deal was. I am surprised that my mouse survived the
ordeal.

Go to the folder delet the ipt files generated by the factory and again righ-click on you factory table re-generate the files.

I had the same problem spend the whole day wasting my time and then I came up with this solution.

Didn't work in my case.

I removed all whitespace (like " ") in the file name and it worked.
