edit coordinate system

Is there a tutorial for this?  I am not always understanding what drives Inventor to decide which way x,y,& z point.  Usually it's usually just annoying, but on the current part i'm working on, Inventor has decided that, while I'm normal to my sketch plane, the x and y axis are 45ish degrees off from everything else I've drawn.  I've discovered that I can click an axis and a feature and have them aligned, but when I click done, it hasn't taken affect.  The part still turns 45 degrees, and if I "edit coordinate system" again, they are back to the odd angles.

Inventor 2012

I attached a picture of the part in edit sketch mode.  I projected the xy & yz planes to show how the sketch is not in line with them.

Any pointers/tips/etc are appreciated!

Hi...

Could you please attach the Inventor file here?

Thanks

I attached a zip of the file.  I continued to work on it after the issue came up, and discovered that sketch 12 of extrusion 4 was doing the odd off angle thing too.  I projected the YZ plane and found it was 1.19 degrees off of the vertical in the sketch.  I removed a lot of features after the fact, and constrained the edges of the sketch to be perpendicular to the projected plane after I removed the horizontal & vertical constraints.  Now when I create a sketch (ie, sketch 34), it's only slightly off rather than the severe degree it was before, and I can't seem to recreate that.  In the zip file, I made the topmost line horizontal and the rightmost line vertical to recreate the issue as close to the original as I could.

Regardless, I would still very much like to go over a tutorial on how to edit the coordiante system.  I don't understand how Inventor chooses how to orient on a new sketch.

Took me way too long, but I had spare time & figured out what I wanted.  Tis rather straighforward, thankfully.

Right click the sketch in question and select "Edit Coordinate System."  The origin of the sketch will have some arrows comig off of it, much like your orientation reference in the lower left of your screen.  However, the one in the lower left has three arrows, and your sketch, being 2d, will only have 2.

If you want to move the center point/origin of your sketch, left click the blue dot at the origin of the two arrows and move your cursor to where you want it moved. When it has a point that it can snap to, the familair little yellow circle will pop up with a preview of the origin and arrows. Click again.

If you want to change the angles (the direction the arrows are pointing), click the arrow representing the axis you want to reorient, and click a line/edge parallel to the direction you want the sketch to go.

When you're satisfied, right click and select Done!
