creating spring with adaptive length

Hi

I want to create a spring with an adaptive length and I'm trying to follow the instructions on this site.
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=10120912&linkID=9242018

I also added such that the height of the spring can be animated by going into the Parameters.

Now when I put this spring into an assembly and I animate the spring in the Studio, I notice that the work plane that I created doesn't move along with the spring even though I've made it adapted. Could someone please help me and tell me what I might have done incorrectly. One thing I know is that I when I made the line (axis length of the coil), I couldn't find a way to constrain the line to the two work planes. Both ends of the line do touch the work planes.

Thanks

I don't think the person who wrote those instructions used the best technique.
Start a new part.
Create sketch line for axis from origin and dimension as desired initial Spring_Length =
Exit Sketch.
(You alread have one of the origin planes at the beginning of the line.)
Create the second plane by clicking on the line and the second enpoint of the line.

You should be able to figure out the rest. Post back if you get stuck.

THANKS! That actually did help and it worked!

I have another question. Is there a way to make both planes move instead of the one?

Sure, but I don't understand why you would want to complicate things.

Simply constraint the line midpoint to the origin and then create a userworkplane at each end.
