is there any way to copy a component (pem stud) in an assembly? i have a part that uses the same stud 30 times.

copy/paste, then click 29 times. I suggest you
don't drop them all in the same spot. If they are patterned, you can "create
rectangular pattern".

If it's in some sort of pattern use the component pattern command. If they are not in a pattern then you will have to assemble each one independently. For simple insert constraints try using the Alt-drag method of constraining. Maybe even infered iMates.

Or you could create a pattern, select all
components except the first, RMB and make independent and delete the
pattern. You'll then have x copies you can constrain.

Now that's a cool trick. Thanks Patrick.

Bingo, although on a library part you may need to build the iMate into the model up front instead of inferred.

Ah true, since library parts are read-only through the project file. Thanks for pointing that out Rich.

Someone pointed out a little trick earlier.
If you have the part copied to your clipboard, then you can leave the constraint
dialogue box open and use ctrl v to paste them while in constraint
mode.

Cool! I didn't realize you could do this from within the assy constraint dialog box. And when you paste it places the component relative to where you are looking in space (as compared to placing the component at the same coordinates each time). This is awesome! Thanks for pointing it out (crystal clear) Jimmy.

Both of these tricks are real cool! and the boss
wonders why I waste my time here (it's not
wasted)<G>
