Autocat can import IGES files.
In the command line just type: igesin

I found no problem with that file.

I think the OP has the vanilla AutoCAD - not the AIS or AIP AutoCAD. Vanilla AutoCAD does not have igesin.

Actually we are using AutoCAD LT which does not support igesin. I tried. Thank you for all of your assistance.

It is always helpful to provide information like this in the original post. I think you will find the people on this forum very helpful when a complete problem description along with a sample file representing the problem is supplied. Good to hear your problem was solved.
I haven't tried this but for future reference you might be able to convert an IGES yourself in the free Inventor LT http://labs.autodesk.com (limited availability) to ACIS and then use the acisin command. Otherwise just let us know and I'm sure someone here will help you out.

James:  I also have an igs file which I need converted to dwg format.  The file is posted herein.  Could you help me out by using Inventor to convert the file to dwg like you did for "horopallo"?  The file is 5.844M, which is too large for the 5.24M max to Post with this Message.  So if you could send me an E-Mail address or direct me to a file swap/transfer site, I could transmit it to you that way.  If you could help me out, I would really appreciate it...Thanks alot!  gwsanford1

You have replied to a thread that is 6.5 years old.

AutoCAD will import IGES directly now.

What version of AutoCAD are you using?

If you read response #10 in this thread - that is kind of important information.  You should include relevant information like this when asking someone to do work for you.  You are right - I don't think LT has the translators.

In the full version start a new file from appriate units template (inches or mm) and then click on the Insert tab and then click Import and set to Files of Type *.igs

Import.PNG

You can download a free 30-day trial of Inventor, AutoCAD or Fusion 360 to do the conversion.  (I haven't checked Fusion 360 IGES import - dwg export, but if it does the translation - it can be rented for $25/mth if you have a continuing need.)

I do not see any files?  What problem are you having converting your files (other than zipping and attaching them here)?
