There are some sample CFG files you can refer. They can be found under
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor Professional 10\Cable &
Harness\Samples\Wire List Import

CFG files for wire import are either comma or semi-colon delimited ASCII
text files.
You can edit them with Notepad, Word, or Excel but make sure the output is
properly
formatted & encoded.

Hi,

Answers to your questions:

1. you don't need to install any software for the CFG file for wire import.
JUST use notepad to edit it. (FYI, the CFG file used for report generator is
in different format. you should use report generator's "edit configuration
file" dialog to edit it)

2. as I said above, please just use notepad or other plain text editor

3. you cannot directly convert the excel file to cfg. CFG file for wire
import has its own format. You can go to the help file for details. (select
"Import Wire List" from the panel, click the help icon at the bottom-left
corner, click "Concept". At the bottom, there are two links: "Learn about
formatting the wire list" and "Learn about creating a wire list". They
explain the format of cfg and csv respectively)

We also have sample files under "Inventor Professional 10\Cable &
Harness\Samples\Wire List Import\". Please notice that they are either comma
or semi-colon delimited. You should check your regional settings (list
separator) to choose the correct one.

Is there a place where these Sample files are Mirrored somewhere for download?  Somewhere down the line my Sample .cfg files have gone missing and annot export my Harness details.  Any suggestions?

I realise this was posted some time ago but I have the same issue.

it seems Inventor now stores the samples file (which contain some of the .cfg files that you are after) through its webpage

Hi! I believe the .cfg files can be found in the older sample files. Go to the following page and download 2018 or 2019 samples.

Many thanks!
