coils

Dear All

Having a problem producing a coil of a rectangular section to form a stringer section on a helical staircase. The main problem seems to be how to define the coil ends (ie flat or natural). When I request the end to be flat the depth of the section is measured vertically, when I req ends to be natural the depth measures perpendicular to rake(this is what i require)However the top of the section does not remain aligned with the pitch line.
Would very much appreciate any suggestions on how to approach problem.

Regard
Brain

Hi Brian,
perhaps the way you can see in CF (same topic)

Use natural, then all segments of rail whatever will lock together to form a
continuous rail.
You will have to use a formula/parameter to give you a vertical total height
input, though you could use extra features on either end to trim up the
vertical height carefully done you would not need a formula, but adds
features.
Actually the first method could be done with sketches either end to give you
a dimension as an input into the coil height................you will have to
think about that one.
