autocad plant3d

Sorry, but I did not see a forum for plant 3d.
I use inventor for 3d plant layout and have done a 250mil plus and a 60mil designs and builds in the past 3 years using inventor.

Has anyone else tried plant 3d and inventor who could comment on the pros and cons?
I find my vendors opionion to always be that I buy more software.

Would be great to here from someone who has used these on actually builds but any advice would help.

I'm watching a webinar on it right now and it seems like autocad with some inventor features and some acadpid features. I see nothing new here, am I missing something?

Ferrisb,

Have you tried the "autodesk.autocadplant3d" discussion group too?
Unfortunately I have no idea if any of them have Inventor experience too,
but it's worth a try.

This is currently a PTV product from Autodesk and is still very low key in the industry but has some great potential. It is based to run with PID and Plant3D as the same project file and it will integrate Inventor designs using an undocumented command not even found in the Help system. It is really designed for running the large process pipe routes from Inventor equipment for a plant. I have seen it used and integrated with RevitMEP, Inventor, and Navisworks for complete designs.
