addig to the threads.xls part 2...

ok. i have added a sheet to the threads.xls file. i copied the NPT sheet and
renamed it to GHT. i deleted all but one line and plugged in my 3/4-11.5
garden hose size. i have applied it to my model sucessfully.

...however, when i detail the part in an .idw i get a leader note of
"3/4-11.5 NPT - 2A". how do i change this in my spreadsheet to yield a
leader note of "3/4-11.5 GHT"?

Does the GHT entry show in the drop-down that shows all the thread types?

...yeah, it shows in the drop-down list and applies it to the model just
fine. but in my drawing when i calll the thread out using a thread note, it
still has the NPT disignation attached to it (because i copied a row from
the NPT sheet and applied it to my new GHT sheet). i don't know where to go
to modify the the dimension note name.

I thought it took the name in the left column of your sheet.

I don't know where the reference comes from, maybe there's a hidden
field/column somewhere. That's what I was thinking about when I suggested
trying it, what would happen with the callout. I put the question to Cory in
another thread (he has a custom ACME), well see if maybe he knows. Other
than that, I guess I would try doing one manually and not coping the
reference. Maybe one of the spreadsheet fast-guns will know for sure.

ok. i'm following the other post that i made too. i've looked every where in
the spreadsheet and i'm stumped. i'll try some things though...

ok larry. i have it figured out. rather than make a copy of the NPT sheet, i
made a copy of the ANSI SCREW THREADS sheet. renamed it it to GHT and
modified it according to the machinery's handbook. with this sheet, you can
modify the callout (thread designation) to read anything that you want it to
in the drawing. apparently, one cannot do this with the NPT sheet...which
doesn't matter now becuase i got it to say what i wanted.

thanks for your help...

When I made my custom sheet, I copied the ansi UN thd sheet. It has a
column called "thread designation" it is the second column. Whatever I put
in this column comes through to the hole note. The sheet for NPT is a
different format than the ANSI un sheet. I don't see a thd designation
column in it. Weird.

I was wondering why NPT and several others don't have thread designations;
they must work differently somehow, so I still wonder where the NPT
designation comes from. Glad you got it working though. We'll have this
answer for posterity now!

I think it's cell 1 in the hidden row BB.
(This row is also in use by the Inventor content lib.)
