Worth disabling default addins (Studio etc.)?

(Inv 2010 Win7 64bit 8GB RAM)

Two questions really:

Firstly is it even worth disabling things like Studio/Frame generator/content center in the Add-in manager if I never use them? I was hoping to at least reduce initial load time for inventor.

Secondly, do i need Win7 admin permission to do it? When I uncheck 'Load on Startup' settings in the Add-In Manager they just re-check themselves.

First, You can exclude studio frame generator and CC if you want it may not have a big impact over everything else being loaded. Please make sure to uncheck both the Loaded/Unloaded and load Automaticaly.

Haveing Local administrator or power user in your windows profile is a requirement.

Before i got a SSD i turned off every addon. Now, with the SSD i don't see any difference. So yes i would if you dont use them.

Ah interesting. Could you post the size or model you have?

What areas does it help in?

It is a OCZ-Vertex Check out the specs via the link below.

It cut inventors load time in half and my computer boots up in about 7 seconds.

I've been using SSD's now for 3 years in RAID0 on my machines. My latest runs two SATAIII SSD drives in RAID0 through an Adaptec RAID controller. It benchmarks out at just over 1.0Gb/s on read.

I did have one drive go about 2 years ago, OCZ replaced it quickly on warranty. Good thing we do full backups each night on our network and I have a separate HD in the machines for local full complete back-ups. Much faster than having to go back and restore from tape.

You can never have to many back-ups!

You can never save your work to much while you work either!
