Hi
Concerning this point take in the read me file "Mini-Toolbar does not displaying parameter name for User workplane in Parts" can you post screenshot what we suppose to see.
From my side i did not see any improvement (no paramater name displayed)
Has this been withdrawn? The link seems to be dead.
On a similar note, the link to Update 1 also seems to be dead.
Yes, this Update has been temporarily withdrawn; an issue with the mini-toolbar for the Assemble command was identified. Basically the Assemble mini-toolbar is inoperable after installing the update. We hope to have it reposted in the very near future.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Chris

If you have installed the Update 2 previously it is recommended that you uninstall it from 'Programs and Features>View Installed Updates' prior to installing this Update.

Oo-ps! "They did it again" ...it is not the first time Autodesk uses this trick to replace improperly tested update.
You, guys, better stop doing it this way! I uderstand that you can't test everything but, believe you or not, - nobody wins from releasing several different versions of update with same number (same build, even no dll version in readme to use for checking etc)!!
You've just released another headache for CADmanagers all over the world.
Many people now become fooled - they most likely will slip this "updating of update" and will use Inventor updated with issued update 2 till update 3.
Autodesk's common recomendation to customers is to install all common updates as soon as they got released, right?
Why don't you let users follow this recommendation .... and if you let - then how customers are supposed to understand that they have not the latest version of update installed?
Why the hell "updated update" was not released as Update 2.1 ?!
Think twice before doing please!!!
I'd also like these "updates to updates" check if the faulty one is installed, and automatically uninstall it before installing the fixed one.
Is this update (update 2 for Inventor 2014 Service Pack 1) supposed to be live again?
When I click on the link I get this:
http://knowledge.autodesk.com/ooooops
Not sure if the direct link that allows me to download the .zip file posted earlier is supposed to be the "fixed" version of update 2, or the "un-fixed" version of update 2. Would have made it a lot easier to know if the "fixed" version was called 2.1
This is still under investigation by our operations team. Will let you know when it's live again.
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Thanks
Chris
The SP1 update2 download issue has now been resolved - see the recent statement at http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Inventor-General/Problem-Download-Update-2-Service-pack-1-inventor-201...
What specifically is the "Ray Tracing" issue ?
Thanks
Chris

^ This.
Had i known that this was an issue when we switched from Inventor 2012 to 2014, we would never have made the upgrade. Call it a lesson learned, as i was too googly eyed about all the new features, but this has been a huge pain in the rear.
These AD guys keep talking about them moving their software to the cloud and this is the primary example of why I think this is the worst possible idea (that and we don't work in SF so our internet connection is waaaaay slow). My wife has moved away from Adobe software in her graphic design company because of this and I imagine we might have to do something similar here with AD.
Right now we don't upgrade to the next version until the one after that is announced. Meaning, I'm on 2013 now, my company won't upgrade to 2014 until they announce 2015. On this ray tracing issue, if they don't fix that at all in 2014 then we won't upgrade to 2015 until 2016 is announced and we'll skip 2014 entirely meaning I'll be on 2013 for two years. It seems with every new release there is some major bug that would impact our workflow greatly (frame generator last time, ray tracing this time, etc. etc.).
I shudder every time I think that at some point in the future I won't have any control over this.
