Unfoldable Spiral Stair Stringer???

Hi All,

first of all i'm sorry this is very basic question that i'm asking because i could not find the answer.

i want to draw spiral stair and obviously after that i want to unfold the stringer, is it possible with inventor??

i have created cruved stringer with sweep command but inventor does not develop the flat of that,

and as i know this is very simple with solidworks so many tutorials are availble on youtube but i could not found how to do this with inventor. (for you refrence https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7bcYwxUFdQ

Attached is a quick example file that uses the Helical Curve tool of the 3D Sketch environment to do this.

What version of Inventor are you using?

Attached is a somewhat easier technique (in my opinion).

i'm using version 2015, thanks JDMather this is really what i was looking but can you explain little bit in depth how you have done it.

what is clue if i want to use HSS (rettangolare tube) profile rather than plate ?? Thanks a lot.
