Unable to retrieve Dimensions on Angled Section

I am using Inventor 2011. I have recently just dimensioned my entire drawing using only the retrieve command, but now that the angles of my section views have changed the command is not working. In this example you can see section B will allow me to pull up dimensions (not sure why they are not aligned) but section A will not allow to me to pull anything. As always any help is greatly appreciated.

Ihave found that if the view doesn't reflect the exact positioning in which the dimension was created in the model there is difficulty in retrieving those dimensions.  It would appear that this might be the case for you.

So you can only retrieve dimensions in the position(plane) you drafted on? If so that is terrible news for me lol.

That has been my experience.  Even with other softwares.

I am with you on that I typically will always insert the dimensions from the model.  That is what the design intent is, but it is these odd dimensions that give me havic that I just created them in the drawing and save the headaches.

Do you think a feasible work around would be creating a plane on the my intended section angle and projecting and dimensioning the part in a new sketch? That way sketch lines would be visable on that specific angle??

In theory it sounds like it might work, but just going by your description and not seeing any images of what you are trully trying to do, it is all speculation at this point.  Try it.  What do you have to lose?

Ok so it seems the work around for this problem is creating your orginal revolved sketch on the plan you are going to create your section on instead of your YZ. Thanks for the help!

The only other thing I can suggest would be to possibly put this into an idea and post it in the Inventor IdeaStation.

I think there should be an easier way to retrieve such dimensions other then the method being discussed here.

If you do post an idea, make sure you post a link in this thread as well as this thread link in the idea.

Glad I could help you.
