Trouble creating Shell

Hi I'm creating a bottle using inventor and I am trying to make it hollow by using the shell tool. However, when i try to select the top of the extrusion (neck of the bottle) it wont let me. Instead it will only select the bottle as a whole and just ends up getting rid of the whole thing! any help would be much appreciated! thank you!

My guess is that you have tangent faces.

Uncheck the Automatic Face Chain option and see if it works as expected.
