Translation MDT2006 to IV10 not working

Good day,

I have a part (MDT2006) I try to open (translate) with IV10 Pro (SP2) but after I click to start the process, RAM used by IV increase and increase and increase... untill I use "end task".

Attached the problematic file.

I've tried:
- MDT opened or closed
- Desktop recover of the file
- Purge the file

My system:
- P4 3.6 GHz
- RAM: 2Go
- Win XP Pro SP2

No trouble here.
I did notice that the MDT sketch did not have a single dimension?
And this appears to be an assembly rather than a single part?

Try copying the MDT file to your local hard disk. Set your Inventor project to so that the workspace is the same folder as the MDT
file.

In the translation destination set that to the same folder.

If it works, you may have an issue with network privelidges. If it still doesn't work, you do not have sufficient privelidges on
certain folders on your local machine (basically Change permission on C:\Program Files).

If you log in as administrator does it work?

I have had numerous issues with this, and the saga is ongoing...

I have had similar problems very recently. It got part way through the process and then just locked-up. I found the problem to be my part template. When I used the standard part template it worked. There is nothing wrong with my part template except it has been migrated through several releases.

I don't see why no dimension would cause a problem...
This is really a part, not an assembly.

Thanks for the translation of the part, I could send you all my problematic parts in the future! 😉

Thanks!

I've tried the translation onto C:\temp\ and it's not working...I have all the permissions required.

No problem with translation - I just don't understand why anyone would use a parametric modeler without parameters. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just use AutoCAD?

Is the translation problem just with this one part or any part you try to translate?

How do you manufacture that thing?
.091 thick at thinnest and over 19" dia.
I assumed it was an assembly of sheet metal parts with a turned hub.

Thanks!
I've tried with another template and it works well.

Part existing for many years in MDT and trying to insert it into an IV assembly.

Not all the time.
See solution below:
use another template for the translation...

In fact, we buy this part. For us, it is a part but for the supplier, I guess it is an assembly...

If it's not a parametric part (i.e. assembly) that you purchase, why not
just save as *.SAT in AutoCad and insert it in Inventor as *.SAT?

Maybe it's a good idea but I'm not familiar with this kind of file and I've never use it. That's why I prefer translate it to IPT.

SAT will just carry over the geometry, without the features.
