To WMF or any other way?

When I was using MDT, I could WMF the drawings so I can insert them to MS
Word for parts manual. Now I am in Inventor and would like a easier way to
WMF the drawings. I have tried to look thru the internet to see if there is
a way I can convert the PDF drawings or IDW drawings to WMF. I am using
Win2PDF to make the drawings for the manufacture employees to look at. We
just can't insert PDF into MS Word. I do not like the quality and the size
of BMP no matter what resolution I use. The only workaround that I have been
using is to import the drawings from Inventor to MDT and then WMF out from
there but it takes a lot of time since it needs clean up and all.... Can
anyone out there give me a better way to solve this? Are there such a thing
that can convert IDW or PDF to WMF? I am pretty sure that there are many
people would like this option or plug-in....

I'm in the same boat.

I write technical manuals, and need an easy way to insert my dwgs into MS word.

what i've been doing, is to export the dwg from inventor to acad, then converting it there.. nothing yet has come forth..

not the best, but it works.

One day, Adesk will recognize technical illustrators! 🙂

If you save to BMP, I think the freeware Irfanview can save it as a EMF (enhanced windows
metafile) If I am not mistaken if needed I think the extension can just be changed to wmf
if needed and have it work.

I am sure you are looking for more than this, but Charles Export preview program will save
a wmf of the preview bitmap from the file.

Would it be any easier for you to use Irfanview (or other similar program like PaintShop Pro) to capture your images (screen capture) and then save the image out to the desired file format?

But does it look good or not? See how nice WMF looks with those straight
line in diagonal compare to BMP which looks choppy.

How about PDF the IDWs then cut and paste from the PDF into Word. I've done
this plenty of times and the results look nice IMO.

And if you use the export Jpeg tool, you get small fine detail JPEGS!
This is also posted on my site.

Hi Derek,
You can, "control-print screen" directly into a Word document. Go to the
view pull down menu then toolbars/picture and use the crop tool by dragging
the handles. It works slick.
