Tip: Disappearing Dimensions in IDW's

Anyone tried to place a dimension in an IDW, only to have it disappear?

Today, I was playing with a drawing that was doing this and discovered a
workaround. Start the dimension like you normally would but instead of
picking a random placement point for where the text goes, move the
cursor over another dimension until the little yellow dot appears then
move the cursor to a position where it is in line with the one you just
hovered over. You should see a little yellow dot as your are picking
the placement. The dimension should not disappear.

This process is normally used for lining up the dimensions but it seems
to keep the dimensions from disappearing. If you want, you can then
drag the dimension to a new location and it will remain visible.

Hey great tip Charles. The disappearing dimensions have always filled me
with rage. I usually end up dimensioning something else and then
reattaching the dim to what I want dimensioned - next time I will try your
trick. Maybe I won't have to keep my office door closed so much

Thanks for the suggestion. I frequently run into that problem. Next time I
will try to remember your tip.

Man, I just had this problem today...it was just a reference drawing, so I
ended up dimensioning from another location where it would stay. I will
keep this in mind next time tho.

Thanks!
