Stress Analysis Update & Mesh Control Problem

It seems that I cannot do a simple stress analysis using Inventor 11?
I can allocate a force plus a constraint but I cannot seem to get anything to happen when I press the Stress Analysis Update icon. The Preview mesh button from the Stress Analysis Settings area also doesn’t seem to do much either.

Can anybody advise what I should be checking on the setup? or am I doing something wrong here?
I have tried going through the AIProf_11_Analysis_GetStart.pdf guide with no luck in solving my issue here.

Also the FEA program only works on IPT's and not IAM's.

Hmmm, your file worked here fine. I'll look again after lunch if someone else hasn't figured out why it isn't working for you.

Have you contacted your reseller about getting a free copy of the release
AOTC training manual?

Hi mechcad8,

Do you see these two addins in the Add-In Manager? If so, are they
loaded?

1) AIPStressAddInServer 11.0
2) Workbench AIP 11.0

Thanks, -Hugh

Hugh,
AIPStress is loaded.

Cannot see Workbench AIP listed on the add in list?

How do I load it on?

Hi mechcad8,

I'm curious to know if Stress Analysis worked for you in the past, but is
no longer working...

You can try to do a repair or re-install, but that may take a long time.

If you would like, you can try the following to "re-register" the
Workbench AIP module.

1) Close Inventor
2) Launch the command prompt by Start->Run-> type "cmd" and OK
3) Change the dirctory to the "bin" folder where Inventor is installed.
(e.g. c:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 11\bin
4) Launch task manager and activate the Processes tab and sort by image
name
5) In the command line type "RegisterStress.exe /uninstall"
5a) Look for this process in task manager and wait until it terminates
itself (this may take up to a minute)
6) In the command line, type "RegisterStress.exe /install" and wait for the
process to terminate itself
7) Launch AIP and the WB AIP module should be loaded.

Please let us know if any of the three options worked for you or not.

Thanks (and best regards), -Hugh

Based on your description, it sounds like the ANSYS solver is not running for some reason otherwise you should see ANSYS Solution Status dialog come up right after you invoke Stress Analysis Update.

Could you please post a snapshot of your add-in manager (launch inventor prof, from Tools> Add-Ins> Add-In Manager 11) ?

Best regards,

I ran into the same exact problem with AIP 2009 and this solution worked perfectly. I couldn't do a simple stress analysis update, or preview my mesh. After reregistering the modules, it works like new.

the only problem for me was getting the cmd path correct...for the IT deprived such as myself, i couldn't restart back at the C:, so i found out by typing 'cd ..', it takes you back a folder level. Once back at the C:, you can type in the path, or to be more careful, you can type in a portion of the folder name and hit the tab key, and it will auto-correct to the closest match, i.e., \pro (tab) took me to the program files folder, then \auto (tab) -->autodesk, etc.

Anyways, thanks so much.
