Step file names

Hey, all!  I'm having a nomenclature issue.  We're trying to translate a surface model from FEMAP FEA software to Inventor.  FEMAP will export several formats, and we started with .stp.  Inventor will open it, but it assigns its own filenames to all the parts.  Same with ParaSolid.  We need to keep the names of the parts as they were in the FEMAP file for reasons which would take too long to explain....  Tried to import as .sat, and the options has a button to "use Inventor default names" which, if turned off, should use the FEMAP names, but apparently the latest version AutoDesk supports is 7, and the latest version FEMAP will export is 10.  Is there any way to open a 3rd party file and force Inventor to use the 3rd party file names?  Thanx.

Would you please send me the STEP file to let me have a check?

If IGES format is available in FEMAP, try it.

For SAT, yes, Inventor only reads the version up to 7.0. But you can send me your SAT file and I will try to convert it to a 7.0 one.
