Looking at that image - the actual part isn't a uniform thickness.  Not every face is "shelled".

I would do a user generated loft to cut away inside the part for a general thickness.

I don't see anything easy about this.

I tried deleting the end face and then using the Thicken command, selecting the whole body, not individual faces.  It looked like it would work (Inventor showed the 'ghost' lines for the Thicken command) but now seems to have locked up my computer. However my computer is pretty puny (i5 2.4GHz, 8GB Ram) so if you have something meatier you might have better luck?

As the part is symmetrical it might help to split it in half before thickening, then Mirror afterwards?

tried splitting & working only on half body. still having issues with fillet.

Sounds like loft is the way. I am working on loft cut.
