Shared Project file checked out in the vault

Hello All,
We have a problem with some legacy files in our Library that were checked out from the old days when we used shared projects before the vault. Unfortunately, there is something corrupt in the file because you cannot check it in, steel or view the checkout when in a shared project. We ran the "Un-Reserve" utility and indeed these files show up as checked out but we get an error when we try to clear the checkout.
What can I do to clear the checkout on these parts? Of course it's a simple screw, but we use it all the time and it has too many parents to just abandon now.

I am having the exact same issue 8 years after you!  Did you ever find a solution.  If so, I;d love to hear it.
