Service Packs for Inventor

Is there an SP3 for Inventor 6? If so, is there a quick link that would help me get to this page any easier in the future? thanks.

Nope, just SP1 & SP 2

Several people have argued that there is an sp3,
but it's called IV7.  <g>

Pat (sorry Kent, couldn't help it)

Ha - good one. The reason I ask is for the past (4) weeks, usually about 2 to 5 times a week, my IV6 SP2 will cause a fatal error and shut down. I asked my IV rep but they don't know what it could be.

By the way - here are my system spec's in case anyone can help me with these multiple fatal crashes:

P4 2.0 GHz
1 Gb RAM
Win 2000 (sp4)
3Dlabs Oxygen GVX1 Pro
IV6 (sp2)

Start with the drivers for the graphics card. If most of your crashes
are while working on IDWs, they tax the graphics drivers the most
severely. Look for not only the latest certified drivers, but the
latest drivers period. Sometimes drivers that fix issues are on the
card manufacturer's site for sometime before Autodesk has a chance to
test them.

If updating the video card drivers doesn't fix it then consider upgrading your video card. I seem to recall others saying that they've had problems with the Oxygen GVX cards.

Ok - I updated all drivers for my graphics card.....crash, crash and crash. This is getting annoying. Can you suggest a graphics card that CAN handle inventor idw files? I've got to remedy this problem.

Thanks!!

My preference (considering your current system) would be any of the
nVidia Quadro4 cards from the 500 up. Would depend on the budget
available, but I would get as high a level card as possible.

I would also look at the whole workstation and evaluate its suitability
to handle the work load and future releases of Inventor. It may be more
cost effective to upgrade to a new workstation and retire your current
on to an emergency backup station.

I've heard good things about nVidia - I think that's what I put in my computer at home and that system is spectacular. At this point, my idw's will be increasing at a dramatic rate so the cost of a new graphics card would be pennies compared to my down time due to fatal errors.

Thanks for all your input and I'll look into this!!

I'll just add my $.02 worth to agree with Hal. Look into nVidia's Quadro line of cards.

Because I'm trying to nail down the actual fatal error problem, I took my idw files that were crashing at work and took them home. I have the nVidia GeForce Ti4200 with AGP8X at home - I was unable to crash these files. When I came into work this morning, I opened the same idw files and crashed within 30 seconds.

I'm going to research nVidia a little bit more then make a recommendation to remove my original Oxygen card.

Thanks everyone for your input - I really appreciate your help!!!!
