SW PRT to IV IPT

I'm in need of some assistance.  I have a SW prt file that my version of IV will not open.  The file is too large to attach when zipped, so I'm hoping I can get a PM from someone so I can email it to them.  My IV version and specs are below.

Thanks in advance,

Sorry Scott, I'm unsure of the SW version.  But I'm guessing that it's at least 2011...

I only asked because I have SW 2011 at home along with Inventer 2012.

If you were to email me the file I could possibly convert it there if you can wait until tonight.

If you want my email address is cadmanto@msn.com

Thanks for the assistance, waiting until tonight will not be a problem. I will shoot the email over to you.  Please be aware that I'm 2 versions behind you when saving this file...

Thanks again...

I will give it my best shot, but I do not have access to previous versions of Inventor.

So what would you prefer me to do?

Shouldn't I be able to open an exported SAT, IGES file from newer versions of IV? If so, either of those formats would be great...

I've opened SW files before and I don't understand why this one refuses to load any bodies....

IV has to be updated to support new versions of SW files. Since your running an out of date version of IV (2010) your stuck not being able to open newer versions of SW files. You shouldn't have any problems with SW files from around 2010 (I'm not sure of the exact version) or older.

Dang! That's what I was afraid of. Is it the same way with verisons of IV?  I can't open STP, IGES, etc. files from newer versions of IV?

No, all of the availbale neutral formats (STEP, IGES, etc.) are somewhat old. You shouldn't have a problem with any of them.
