START UP DIRECTORY

I am sure this question has asked before and I will feel embarrassed when
told of its simple solution.

We have 5 seats of Inventor 6 and we may all be working on different parts
of the same project but when we go to open a file the locations panel has
always defaulted to the same directory, usually one that none of us are
working on.

What we would like is to set this defaiult directory on an individual basis,
is this possible.

You need to consider using either the shared or semi-isolated multi-user
environment. There is a document on the CD in the folder
"documentation" that discusses setting up these environments. It
involves using project files to direct Inventor to the appropriate
locations. The document name is "Autodesk Inventor 6 File
Management.doc". It is not easy reading, but is very necessary for an
understanding of how Inventor manages files.
