Revolve Problems

Please see attached pic of a sketch that I need to revolve. The second picture shows what I end up with after the revolve is done. If I change some of the dimensions slightly (like the 5" diameter to 6") this problem goes away. Will someone try this out and see if they get the same results?

Yep, happens here too. And I've seen the problem before.

Thanks JD, if I zoom way in or out, it goes away. And I just checked the drawing and it comes out OK there, so I guess I can live with it. Thanks for replying so quickly!

I just saved as an stl file (at high resolution) and imported it into our RP software. Didn't look good there, so I would classify this as a problem. (The gray area in image is support structure that the machine should not have to build to make this part.)

Problems like that (simple single body surface of revolution) were to be
expected 15 to 20 years ago. Hard to believe there are reproducible instances
still around today.

Can you post the part? I'm sure Adsk would be interested in seeing it. Are you
sure the line and arc end points on that boundary are coincident. Looks like IV
has tried to create a tolerant edge and muffed it. Might also be trying to
adjust tangency on the boundary?

This has come earlier and I remember we repairing it by changing the sketches. This has also come up in our internal builds.

We would like to have the part. shekardotsubatautodeskdotcom. Thanks.

No need to have the part. Just draw as is per the jpeg.
Did it for me anyway.

Thanks - no need to post the part.

I was able to reproduce and I have logged the issue to our database.
