Relocating files

I'm sure this has been asked and answered several times before, but here
goes: I need to relocate ALL of my Inventor files from my local computer to
the company server. What is the best way to do this without losing
associativity and file structure??

I am also relocating all of my files, only in reverse. I need to go from the
server to my local HD, I do not like semi-isolated!. Do I need to use the
pack and go? is it really necessary? or can I just put all of my files away
on the server and move them all copy, paste in windows explorer. Won't this
do the same thing? I am unsure.

DA will do this. Using DA, copy the top most file in your structure to
the network location you want to start. Open that new file (on the
network) in DA and you can copy or move the rest of the files. If it is
a large assembly, I have found that if I work with smaller groups of
files I do not have network file transfer errors.

When you do it that way you will have to edit your project files to
change the server location to your local location. When you open the
top assemblies for the first time you may have resolve errors, however
once these are corrected there shouldn't be any more problems.

If your Project file is correctly configured, and you are using
"relative" pathing, then copying the same directory structure to another
drive should not create an issue.
