there an add-on or something that will recognize 3D data, say a STEP file or a
3D AutoCAD file, and build the data in Inventor? This would be similar to
"Feature Works" in SolidWorks.

can look into some of the 3rd party services like elysium. I think they
translate the native files from 1 system to another, not a neutral file like
STEP.

checked out TTI, Proficiency, Aspire3D or any of the others? There was also
some companies that used to take clean 2D drawings and convert them to MDT.
Anyone have any experiece with that type of translation?
