Hello folks,
I really need some help. I need to design a platform (total load 5 ton) that needs to be pulled up and lowered with one hydraulic cilinder that operates a cablesystem. The cable needs to go via wheels and other things to get in the corner of the platform. (I hope you can vizualize what i mean with this task)
I wonder if there is a way to simulate cables (or ropes) in Inventor. And if so how can i do it.
I have Autodesk Inventor 2011 Simulation
With thanks!

Inventor does not have a rope or cable generator yet that I know of... They do have some good belt and chain generators that might get the pulleys you need at least... Maybe? Just a thought.
Otherwise, as JD stated, you're best bet would be making use of adaptivity.
did you search this forum?
This question has been asked many times in the past.
You'll likely find some good suggestions in those older posts.
Of course if you are trying to determine forces actually modeling the cables would be overkill.
The only reason I can think of modeling adaptive cables is for pretty picture animation, not for dynamic simulation.

I'm reading your answer and I ask to myself ... What about this ??

I look forward to hearing from you
its been 9 years, now your useless reply is one of the first answers that pops up on google.
How do you make a rope or cable in Inventor?

Sweep.
Attach your attempt here if you can't figure it out.
