Quick Question re: Modeling

In Inventor, I have a part, which has taken several steps to make. (It's a flat part with two pieces hanging down off of each side) I've checked the dimensions and discovered that the part is too big, but I don't want to go through making the part all over again. Is there any way that I can take the part, cut out enough from the center to make it the right length, and the reconnect the two pieces back together?

Why not just make the sketch visible and change
the dims?

Becuase if I do that, it ends up invalidating the piece hanging down on the farthest side.

Can you post your part to CF?

Hard to know what you're trying to do without
seeing it, I guess. Don't think I understand what "invalidating the piece
hanging down" means.

Can you zip it up and post it to customer files? Something doesn't sound right!

you should have constrained the sketches of the
parts hanging down to the base and they would stay attached to the base.

have you tried it? it may be that way
already.

The piece is posted as "Resizing a Part in IV6"

Sketch 3 in Extrusion 3 isn't tied to
anything.  It remains the original size and therefore becomes larger than
the entire part.  Dimension it off the edges and the part updates with no
issues.

How can I dimension it off to the edges? You mean dimension to the edges and then offset however much I need to?
