When I really struggle I do a sketch on the view.

Click the view first and hit S. You can now progect geometry from the view and draw in a new line.Finish Sketch. RMB the sketch in the browser and change the properties to make it more visible. Then pull a dimension off your sketch line.

Are you saying you cannot select the centerline itself with the dimension command?

I have no problem adding a dimension to a circular centerline.

Is the centerline a full circle?

You can right-click after selecting the centerline with the dimension command to get options for dimension type, radius or diameter.

Please explain your problem a bit more.

Ok, so you're not seeing the same as in this video:

Can you post the files (idw + ipt)?

do all the same, but dimension just select the line

I'm getting the same result as you, it won't add a dimension to the centerline.
But, the ipt you attached has no dimensions/constraints in the sketch whatsoever.
How did that happen? is it intentional?

It might be that there is a (very) slight offset for one of the holes, that makes it possible to add a nearly proper centerline but just not 100%

If you have a fully dimensioned/constrained sketch, you could also "retrieve dimensions" on your idw to get the dimension directly from the part as a work around.

Try adding all dimensions to the sketch so it's fully constrained.
(will say so in the lower right corner when editing the sketch)

If it still won't add a dimension to the centerline, you can at least retrieve the dimensions you have in your sketch.
