Problem in following the training guide book.

Greetings.

I am teaching myself Inv 2011 from the Waguespack / Tremblay book for Inv 2011 and have got stuck on page 330.

I have loaded mi_8a_001.iam as instructed.

They tell me to click on the Assemble tab and then select the drop down on the productibvity panel and select degree of freedom analysis.

I cant find a productivity panel on the ribbon or a degree of freedom analysis button anywhere.

Can someone steer me in the right direction here please. Maybe the book is referring to an earlier version of inventor which had these things as stated, and these options have been relocated?

Thanks in anticipation

If you can't find the Productivity panel on the Assemble tab, then try right clicking on the ribbon, hover over show panels and make sure Productivity is checked.

Another way to find a command quickly is click on the big I (upper left corner) and, in the search dialog (top most part of the drop down) start typing the command (in this case "degree of freedom analysis") and within a few characters you'll get a match.

Peace,

Hi tonyaimer,

Thanks for supporting the book. In addtion to the previous suggestion to use the search tool (which is nice tip also), you can find the Productivity panel as shown here:

And the Degrees of Freedom tool fro the fly out as shown:

Autodesk Inventor DOF 1.png

If you don't see the Productivity panel you might have it turned off. You can enable it by right-clicking on any panel and then selecting it as shown:

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip of right clicking and checking that productivity is turned on.

It did not work as my panels list does not include 'productivity'

All I have is      Component

                        Position

                        Manage

                        ipart/Assembly

                        Work features

                        Convert

                        Measure

Curtis - I see your screen dump shows you have the pro version of Inventor.

I only have the version below that - I forget what it is called but I dont have simulation etc.

Could this be the problem?  I would not have thought so

regards

Thanks for the tip but see my reply to curtis

I tried typing 'degrees of freedom ' into the box as you suggested but I only got how to

show the degreees of freedom using the button in 'view'.

It did not offer me degrees of freedo analysis.

I have the invenotr 11 version 1 down from Pro and this may be my problem?

Regards

Tony

Hi tonyaimer,

Your version should have these tools as well.

Try this:

Go to the Tools tab and click the Addins button.

In the list look for an add in called: Assembly Bonus Tools

If it's listed but not loaded, then load it.

If it's not listed, then you might need to do a Repair to your Inventor install.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Voila and the problem is solved!

Thanks all round.

Now I am going to get my nose back into the book again.
