much RAM have you got in the plotter. my ENCAD Cadjet2 came with 2MB and I
upped it to 20MB which works fine. the IV windows system printer might be
plotting in raster format(I might be wrong) which uses much more memory than
the Autocad heidi vector plot drivers.

tried setting up a custom sheet size from iv print dialog box and the max it
allows is 400 inches or 10150mm on Encad cadjet2. this is with latest windows
updates and service packs. have not tried plotting anything yet. (I think the
encad is fairly close to a hp)

at windows help. there is a 4 billion pixel limit on plotting which restrict
you to 110 inches long.(according to my plotter's manual) in autocad I could
plot 11m long(400 inches) using heidi vector drivers.
following from winxp help...
CAUSE
This problem may occur if the
maximum size of a device surface was set at 4 billion pixels. Because of a
limitation in Windows XP and Windows 2000, attempts to create a device surface
that is larger than 4 billion pixels do not work.
this has been fixed in w2k sp4 or xp sp1.
looking at the iv manuals there is absolutely nothing on plotting.
