Hello,

Does any one know how to get the username on an idw?

To be more specific, the user name from the pc which is printing.

Thanks Mike,

This should work:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=16459234

That it is iLogic I didn't know. Thanks for your offer but I would rather let it rest for a while.

Our company is planning to get a higher version one day so the iLogic would be solved then.

In the meantime we can study.

But, it is not about the username only, date of printing should be there as well.

I thought that I solved this but it isn't because before opening an idw it has to be actualized first otherwise you will get the date from last save. I dont know if this would be possible in nowadays version of Inventor and/or Vault.

Printing is mostly done by the Productstream(Vault) Jobserver so I guess that a button is not an option.

Hi

if you open the idw on your machine then a button is very possible. iLogic, VBA & VB.net can all write the username, date of printing and anything else to your fields. Print Date is not a problem either

It would be simple with iLogic. It can be done with VBA or VB as well, as Nigel has noted, but it's not as simple and will rely on an additional button being pressed as opposed to being fully automated through iLogic.

Hi

as you cant use iLogic yet, a button would surely suffice for now. If you give adetailed description of the fileds you need and the data, im sure i can rustle something up for you no problem 🙂 i'll do it in VBA as its the easiest to implement (if you dont have iLogic)

Yes! a button is better than a handmade stamp and paragraph.
