Hi All,
I have to start using Inventor in my next job and they have asked me to produce Photorealistic renders from it. Is there a plugin or some compatible software I can use to create these?
Thanks for any help you can give.
Mark.
Inventor Design Suites come with Showcase, which is a great tool for creating Photo-realistic images:

That being said, Inventor itself has ray tracing capabilities which and IBL backgrounds which produce quite good images. And as always, there is Inventor Studio (rendering environment which comes with Inventor)
Thank you for this information. Can you use texture maps in Inventor too?
I am use to using Solidworks and Photoworks 360 to create furniture and joinery and am was wondering if I can get the same results with Inventor.
Yes. You basically assign texture maps to "Appearances" in Inventor, then choose the part of the model which you want to have that particular appearance.
Thank you for your help with this. I will give this a go.
Here is an example of what I do in Solidworks, it's not amazing but I hope to get similar results with Inventor Studio.

3D Studio Max can create some really good looking photorealistic renders as well.

Could you take an Inventor assembly and render it in either 3DS Max / Solidworks or V-ray?
Inventor is Solidworks.. Typically what you can do in Solidworks can more or less be done in Inventor too..
They are virtually identical competing software.
Now if you let us know if you just have Inventor or do you have one of the "design suites" (with showcase/3dsmax,etc..) then more information on what program to use can be provided.
But Inventor alone can do a rendering like the one you attached already with ease..
I will be using just Inventor.
Are there any examples of Interior design renders that have been done in Inventor?
"Could you take an Inventor assembly and render it in either 3DS Max"
Short answer is yes. Here are 3DS Max Design's import options.
In the attached zip file I open the sample file Engine MKII in Inventor did a screen capture of the shaded view with edges on, rendered it in Inventor Studio and then opened Showcase's sample of the same engine and rendered it there so you can compare what can be done with Inventor vs. Showcase. I did no prep work with ether.
Here is the same engine in 3DS Max Design with zero prep. Just imported and rendered as is.
Heres a quick render done in Showcase

There are a lot of uploads over at https://grabcad.com/home but not to many interior designs.
