Parts list doesn't update when new part is added.

I have an assembly and a drawing. I replaced 2 components in the assembly by placing the new component, transfering the constraints to the new component, then deleting the old component. When I open the drawing, the parts list does not show the new component. Using the update, has no effect. The update drawing button is greyed out. If I show contents of the view that the Parts List is linked to, it shows the new components. If I balloon the items in the view, it shows up as a number that is not in the Parts List.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Jeff

You must delete the parts list and replace it with
a new one.

Just a couple of thoughts. Are you sure that the parts list refers to a view that is updated? If you view the components in the browser, do you see your updated parts? Did you manually adjust the parts list at all? What happens if you "rebuild all" from the assembly?

Yes, it does refer to the view that is being updated. If I put another new part into the assembly, it will show up in the Parts list.

I do see the updated parts in the browser.

I have tried all of the options to the parts list, attempting to update it.

How do you rebuild all in the assembly, the update all is greyed out.

It's not the first time theres problem with partlist and balloning.
You could try to close all files and then open them up again, iam, ipt then
the idw.

We had this same problem where i work. we tried everything and could not get the new parts to balloon or show up in the parts list. we have done tons of other idw's with no problems. this problem has only showed up once and is very strange. the only thing i can think of is it is a glich in the iam or something. the file was first done in 5.3 then a revision was made with r7 (yes all files were migrated between releases) the other strange thing was that the old qty of a part we removed reamined in the parts list but was atached to the new part number. its wierd that out of 1000 idw it only happened to 1. i would be glad to send autodesk our data set if they would like to see it.
