Now THAT"s surfacing

On another forum I visit (corvetteforum.com) this guy posted some of his
modeling work.

Now I like this. Apparently this software (which sounds like a ancient
South American civilization) can project geometry from the BMPs he inserted
into the file (see the first screenshot). I'd LOVE for IV to be able to do
this. It would make *re*-creation of complex geometry much easier

And of course I thought it was cool too.. I asked if he could export it
to STEP or SAT or IGES...Maybe we can drop in Mark's virtual engine...

You could use Wintopo (a freeware graphics to dxf program) and use that in Inventor. I am
sure it would take some cleanup work but....

I tried that once. It was such a mess that it wasn't worth the effort.
Unless you have a very simple picture you'd spend all day cleaning up the
DXF file. At least I did.

WOW! That is so cool. Too bad the image has to be really clean. Oh well, i
am sure the logic will improve in the future 🙂

Ok...if no one else is going to ask (probably because everyone but me
knows)....What is the name of the (South American civilization sounding)
software?

Killer stuff Sean!
This would be the only way I could ever afford that red corvette I always
wanted!

Yeah....Thanks Sean. His post showed up between the time I started my post

Is it MAYA ?

The software can not project lines from the bitmap images, instead you
construct three planes and map the three views on these three planes. Then
you build your model. This is a common method in organic modeling.

Now, if you really want to see what this software is capable of, check out
this link. You will not believe your eyes...

Yep, and old Woody Allen's idea of the future is probably right on target!
but who will guard the fort and plant/harvest the crops while the masses
live out their cyber fantasies 24 hours a day?.....

oops, sorry about that moral interjection there, I couldn't help myself.

That is pretty impressive, but are you trying to get people in hot water?

Note to self -- be wary of links Ahmet posts.... :^)
