New 3D Capture & Viewer

Looks promising. I have just begun playing with the demo version. You send
the 3D info to the program via the Print Screen button.

Has orbit, zoom, pan, 3D cutting planes, annotations and measure.

It uses the same Opengl coding premiss as modelpress. Looks like they've added a hook for Outlook and netmeeting. A little cleaner interface than Modelpress though.

Have you been able to get it working successfully? I tried the print screen
button thing and it didn't do anything to the capture screen. Do I have to
do something with the One Application Capture? I had that one from inventor
bin/ inventor.exe. Is that correct or what? I must be missing something.

I did the global capture. Have IV open with a model, have the capture
program open. Click in an open space in IV (or on a part to just capture
that part) and hit print screen. It should send the info to the viewer.

I just got a call from OKYZ after d/ling the software. I told him I was having
that same problem. He said to turn of "Toggle on Clear" on the Capture Settings.
Works now!

He called me too. We were talking for a bit and he said there were quite a
few downloads today 🙂

Maybe I should ask for a commission?

Did you discuss cost? I didn't see any prices on the site.

I tried a cylinder with a polished aluminum material and it looked really ugly. Is anyone experiencing this?

You talking about those little bubbles for the
reflection? Yeah that is one thing I didn't like about it. Also if you have an
image background, Raider 3D only captures the background itself, not the model.
Weird uh?

The ugly comes from the Inventor reflective ball
being patterned on the part....yuck..but other than that it looks
cool!

Ok I need to figure if this will work for us.

Let's say I need for a patent lawyer to be able to visualize the concept for
a patent application; would I send him my captured image of the assembly and
a copy of the program so he could view it? Would this be costly for them or
is there just a viewer for the captured image without the capture
capabilities?

They say there is a freely downloadable viewer for the files you send.

I haven't had much time to play with it but so far the best I have been able to get is a
thin rectangle with Demo written over the top of it. When I do the printscreen I get a
hourglass but when I switch to the program it is just that rectangle, not my part?? Need
to find more time to play with it I guess.

Do you have the background set as an image instead of color? That is what
happens where it only do the background instead of the model.
