Naming of library parts

I normally place library parts into my assys and then rename the part to
coincide with our company's part number for that item. I have just placed a
DIN 472 internal circlip and it asked me for the part number before
inserting it into the drawing. Can I make the library parts do this with
everything?

Thanks,

Nick

Is this an ipart, an IV content part or just a part that exists in the
library. I'm not following you exactly. You say

"DIN 472 internal circlip and it asked me for the part number before
inserting it into the drawing"

By drawing do you mean and IDW or do you mean an assembly (IAM)?

This is an IV6 library part, under standard parts, DIN, Circlips, DIN 472
(The one I used was 24mm, but that should not make a difference). The term
drawing was indeed misleading, I obviously insert it into my assembly (with
the idrop tool).

I think it's because you haven't defined a path for the library files. If
you go to the main screen of the content and choose configure then edit and
select Parent Assembly it seems to ask you for a place to store (and how to
name the file). If you choose Workspace it places it in your workspace by
default. Or you can choose a defined Library path...

Well no, there blows that theory Now it's not asking.. I'm not sure. I
can get it to happen sometimes but not others. Just another reason to use
iParts I guess
