(My) Official Content Center Wish List

Well, after spending considerable time on the Content Center it looks like
we'll be waiting at least one more release before giving it a go. It's just
too labor intensive & you can't control color like an iPart. Here's my wish
list to make it the way-cool tool it could be:
1. I want the Content Center to be my only library.
2. I want to be able to publish assemblies. (I believe it could use a file
store similar to the Vault for this)
3. I want to be able to control color or anything else that I can control in
an iPart.
4. I currently have an iPart template with certain fields set up in the
table. I would like to use Parameter Mapping in this way, controlling what
iProps are required & thus enforcing a part description format, file name,
etc.
5. I want to be able to export a part from the Content Center as an iPart
(complete with table) so I can share it.
6. I want to be able to publish a single part (bachelor)& add fields later
to make it a "parent".
7. I want to be able to open a part from the Content Center & fix it if it
needs adjustment.
8. I want the child parts to behave properly in the browser & DA.
9. I want the interface to open in 1/4 the time it takes now.
10. I want to see a preview of each child. (I have several iParts that
change drastically from child to child & I think this would probably require
a "Publish all children" button to get the views)

I'm sure I left some things out & hope everyone else will add their 2 cents
on this. The Content Center is on it's way to becoming the best thing since
sliced bread (as long as it doesn't get the same treatment the Revision
Table has received).
Keep up the good work iTeam!

I want Content Center and DACc to be "Interactive". I want the Bolted Connection to take its parts from the Content Center...or something like that. Right now The bolted connection is pretty useless if it has it's own "Library".

I'll second that

1. Better descriptions for std parts. "Type A, B, C, I, II, II" doesn't mean much. See McMaster-Carr website for inspiration.
2.) Lose the oddball measurements for some of these parts. Example: Hex Socket Set Screw Lengths .44, .57, .70, .83. Please speak up if your company actually orders parts with these lengths, mine sure doesn't. Std lengths please: 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, etc.

Let material be a choice for standard bolts nuts etc. The bolts we use are normally 8.8, 10.7, A4 etc, and each one has its own purchase no. As long the material not is a key in the selection, material can never be an option.

Very good point. I miss that, too.

The part descriptions come from the standard. I will log a wishlist item
asking for better descriptions.

Those set screw lengths are so wrong they're almost funny. We inherited the
data from Genius, and evidently nobody checked the values. They should be
.06 increments to .5 inch, and .12 from .5 to 1.0. I will log this issue.

I like that idea just as long as you can add to the material list.

Recently my company had to use glass filled nylon fasteners for one of our projects.
