Multiple hole callouts

I have created a a part that I am now dimensioning in an .idw. The part has 3 drilled holes all on the same centerline. Is there a way to dimension all 3 of these holes using one "Hole Note". Currently I have to use three hole notes with three separate leader lines. This gets to be a bit cluttered. Hope someone can help me. Thanks.

I am assuming that by on the same centerline you mean concentric.

You can edit the hole note text of one of the holes and add the parameters of the other holes as counterbores or you could just makt the holes counterbored features.

Yes, what i'm referring to is that all the holes are concetric to each other. I understand what you mean by editing the hole note text by adding parameters. I was just hoping there was a simpler solution like clicking on the hole note callout and selecting all 3 holes together and giving me my necessary callout. Maybe this can't be done yet.

Thank you for your post. As stated, the best option is to place
counterbores, etc, into a single hole feature where possible. I understand
this is not always an option. I have logged this wish as ID# 933999 for
your reference.

Another option would be to use a hole note to callout one hole, and then add
text parameters to designate the other holes. For example, if you have a
thru hole, with counterbores of different values on opposite sides of the
part, you cannot create one hole feature to cover all three at once. In
this instance, you can create a counterbored hole and then another hole on
the opposite side.

In the drawing, place the hole note on the counterbored hole as you will be
able to create 2 out of 3 notes with this selection. After the note is
place, right-click on the note and select "Text..". You will see the <<>>
brackets representing the hole note. Create text which represents the
information for the last remaining note, and then find and insert the
correct Parameters of these values.

Finding the parameters can be tricky, but if you are worried about the
values changing and not being updated, this will help ensure your notes get
updated and you can have a single note instead of three.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks.

I am still seeing this issue in Inventor 2021. There should be a way to include multiple, concentric Hole and Thread features in one callout. For example, I need to drill a thru hole of .502 thru a part. Then I need to add a 3/8-18 NPT thread at the same location. There should be a way to include both of those hole/thread parameters in the Hole and Tread note without having to type them manually. If the model dimensions change I would want the callout to adjust accordingly. This cannot happen if you have to type out the parameters manually.

In the image attached, the 3/8-18 NPT portion of the callout had to be added manually. I want to be able to select/input those parameters so that they adjust automatically when changes arise.

Note: adding the parameters by using the Text... command does not fully work because the model tolerance does not get inputted.

Hi! I could be wrong but I thought there was a way to do that. It was discussed recently. If possible, please share the hole note example. Forum experts can help take a further look.

Many thanks!

@johnsonshiue

The hole note example is in the image attached to my previous post.

Hi! Many thanks for sharing the image! I think I misunderstood the request. I don't see a way to combine Hole Note and Thread Note automatically unfortunately.

I had a similar issue. I resolved mine by adding a column in the thread.xls file to give me the drill thru diameter I wanted. Se how the 3/8 row differs fronm the 3/8 GD row.
