Modeled threads

Does Inventor actually model threads? That is, would it produce a usable male or female thread if 3D printed?

Hi tmccar,

I think this Exchange App add-in is currently the best way to do this:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Hi!

Yes. You can use coil  tool

or sweep tool + helical curve (3d Sketch).

The problems I found with the using the coil is the the sketch had to be slightly smaller than that actual book pitch of the tread or I got an overlapping error, as well as that it can sometimes be difficult to correctly align the threads in an assembly even when there created on the same plane.

Other wise this method give a an excellent modeled/cut thread.
