Model Press Viewer

Just to let everyone know, I received a email from
http://www.modelpress.com/ and they now support R6 of IV.

Good View, easy to use from my experience with R5.3

Viewer for Inventor- ModelPress Announcement

"Can anyone else get this to work?
Apparently their press release beat the updating of the software as when I
try to export any files it creates 0 files (even though it appears to be
crunching away)"

Sorry, didn't see that post.

I will try it later on and see if I run into the same problem.

Sean,

On their webpage, under file formats, you'll
notice that it says "IAM, IPT (may require additional download)."

On the ModelPress Publisher download page you'll
notice "Autodesk Apprentice 6.0
(required to
publish Inventor files)
".
I'm currently downloading this 32MB
file, hopefully this will enable it.

I was under the impression that if you installed
the SDK Apprentice was installed as well.  Apprentice is usually used for
people who don't have Inventor installed.  Kind of an Inventor Lite.
Let me know how it goes..

It's broken alright. Your right... that download
is actually the Stand-Alone Design Tracking module. Why would modelpress change
the name to 'Autodesk Apprentice'? Just to confuse us?

Myriad is a CAD viewing package... we actually
have a seat of this. I don't think it's related to this
problem.

Hi All,

This should Help

The previous released version of ModelPress Publisher does not support (Apprentice 6.0) Autodesk's Design Tracking Version 6.0.
As a result of this the previous ModelPress Publisher will not publish Inventor 6.0 files.

The newest released Version of ModelPress Publisher does support Design Tracking 6.0 (Apprentice) for Inventor 6.0 support.
Download the newest version from the ModelPress website.

(Apprentice) Design Tracking 6.0 must be installed prior to installing ModelPress Publisher.
If ModelPress Press Publisher was installed Prior to (Apprentice) Design Tracking 6.0 then one of the DLL files for (Apprentice) Design Tracking 6.0 must be registered Manually to do this open a DOS Command Prompt Window and change directories to:
c:\Autodesk\Design Tracking 6.0\Bin> (this is based on a default install of (Apprentice) Design Tracking 6.0 if you insatlled (Apprentice) Design Tracking 6.0 in a location other then the default change to that directory.)
Then at the command prompt type RxApprenticeMarshal.dll -Register

Example:
c:\Autodesk\Design Tracking 6.0\Bin>RxApprenticeMarshal.dll -Register

This is nessasary due to a fact that the (Apprentice) Design Tracking installer does not register the RxApprenticeMarshall.dll with Windows. ModelPress Publisher's installer is designed to register the RxApprenticeMarshall.dll but it can only do this if Design Tracking 6.0 is installed prior to ModelPress Publisher being installed.

I posted our problem to Informative Graphics Corp and included a link to this thread. I guess by using the link it also allowed Dennis to post the above thread as me. Didn't know that one.

Here's an easier to read version of what Dennis posted.

The previous released version of ModelPress Publisher does not support (Apprentice 6.0) Autodesk's Design Tracking Version 6.0. As a result of this the previous ModelPress Publisher will not publish Inventor 6.0 files.

The newest released Version of ModelPress publisher support Design Tracking 6.0 (Apprentice) for Inventor 6.0 support.

Example: c:\Autodesk\Design Tracking 6.0\Bin>RxApprenticeMarshal.dll -Register

This is nessasary due to a bug in the (Apprentice) Design Tracking installer that does not register the RxApprenticeMarshall.dll. ModelPress Publisher installer is designed to register the RxApprenticeMarshall.dll but it can only do this if Design Tracking 6.0 is installed prior to Model Press Publisher being installed.

Well I think that if you do a full install of R6
you get Apprentice.  And I didn't have a previous version of Model Press
installed on this machine.  So it appears that this doesn't apply to my
situation but it still doesn't work...

OK,

So what is the deal here? The version of Design
Traking v6.0 that I seen said not to instal it on a system that already has
Inventor on it? Can we safely install this design traking thingy or not? I have
the (edited) C-Dilla system here so I DO NOT want to have any install issues due
to this as it will be a major PITA.
Sure do want to see model press for INV 6 fiels
running here though.

I removed the old version of ModelPress and installed the new publisher yesterday. Since I already have IV6 I didn't mess around with Apprentice. I converted 1 injection molded part and it worked flawlessly, I haven't tried any others.
