Material appreances of a part do not carry over into an assembly

Sometimes when I create a part in Inventor, the colour override I apply to that part does not carry over into a assembly the part is in.

In other words, if I make Part X black at the parts modelling level, it will not be black when I drop it into an assembly.

This is rather frustrating, what could be the cause of this?

Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

Any chance this part you are dropping into the assembly an ipart?

Also take a look at this thread and see if it applies to your situation.
