My Maker Space group does a lot of robot building and we like, when we can, to 3D print things like motor mounts and brackets.
We are concerned that one potential motor mount will not be strong enough and would like to 3D mold the mount "around" portions of the motor to add more suppport.
We love in 2D where you can easily (and thank you very much by the way) project geometry onto the new part you're creating. Is there a way to do the same thing in 3D, so that we don't have to spend a lot of time adding and extruding small areas to meet the motor?
Sort of like if we could invert the motor, take elements of that surface and 3D print them.

Sounds like you want to Thicken/Offset as a surface body and the Thicken as a new solid body.

Thanks for the response! We're snowed into day will school, and therefore FRC robotics cancelled.
I'll try your suggestion. I've successfully used off-set in 2D drawings, didn't know it worked in 3D.

Hmmm ... it's been a while since I read Revelations, but isn't JD Mather suggesting the use of Move Face sandwiched in there with the signs of the apocalypse somewhere between the rains of fire and the seas of blood?

I should have emphasized might.
Move Face is (almost) always not the best solution.
Frankly, I did feel the earth shake a bit when I typed that out yesterday.
