I have never tried setting the registry to see if the XGL part might be
compatible with R5.3. I would think it should be however, for a fact,
the JPEG part is not and can't be. I had most of the JPEG program
written in R5.3 but ran into an API problem which was fixed in R6.
Creating JPEG's in R5.3 would have provided you with images you
wouldn't want on a postage stamp.
